In a bold snatching incident that’s now a unique Andheri crime, , a young professional was robbed of his high-end smartphone by two unidentified bike-borne assailants late Saturday night in Mumbai’s Andheri East area. The audacious theft occurred around 11:30 PM on June 14, 2025, and was officially reported two days later at the Andheri Police Station.
The victim, a 22-year-old man working in mutual funds, was returning home with a friend after dinner at a mall. While crossing the Western Express Highway under the Andheri Metro line’s northbound stretch, he briefly placed his iPhone 16 Pro on the rickshaw seat beside him. That moment of carelessness proved costly.
Suddenly, two individuals on a black motorcycle pulled up from behind. One of them swiftly snatched the phone and sped off toward Bandra before the victim could react. Though he gave chase on foot, the culprits vanished into the darkness of Mumbai’s busy night traffic.
The victim, unable to pursue the bike further, returned home. After failing to track down the culprits on his own, he visited the Andheri Police Station on June 16 and lodged a formal complaint. Police have registered a case and are now scanning CCTV footage from the vicinity of the crime to identify the motorcycle and the culprits.
