An official of the Mumbai Electricity Department has filed a case against his house-help of absconding after stealing almost ₹7 Lakh from his residence. The details of the this Munbai crime are a disappointment for anyone who believes in the spirit of helping.
According to the FIR, the official took pity on the 20 YO man, who he first met in his hometown, Nagpur, and hired him as a househelp in his ancestral home. Over time, the man came to Mumbai, and started working in the man’s house.
And one fine day, when the offical arranged ₹7 Lakh cash to pay off a gold loan, he found out that the money was missing and as was the house-help. A read of the case filed boggles the mind.
Here is a man who took care of another one, brought him from rural Nagpur to Metro, gave him an opportunity to lead a life in one of the most popular cities in the world, and yet, he has become a victim of a robbery, right in his own home.
It’s 2025, and ₹7 Lakh is a modest amount, and no longer a life-changing one. It is interesting that someone actually decided to break ties from a person who’s essentially been helping him all the way from Nagpur to Mumbai for this amount.
The crime would, eventually, have the police travel all the way to where the two men first met, and the clues found there would probably close this case pretty soon.
