Female Employee Accused Of INR 30 Lakh Theft By Kisna

The BKC Police have filed a case against a female customer service representative of Kisna Diamond and Gold Jewellery after competent authorities alleged that she was stealing gold jewellery from their dispatch room in a fresh Mumbai crime.

The theft was discovered during the shop’s audit, which revealed that gold jewellery worth at least INR 30 Lakh was missing. The CCTV camera footage then revealed the plot, showing the female customer care agent trying to take the gold out of the shop.

On confrontation, the woman couldn’t give a proper reply to the queries. The company has now filed a complaint against the person. Apparently, the crime had been going on for a while. The woman is said to have stolen 17 gold items, including necklaces, nose rings, mangal sutras, and other items.

Shops and establishments, including sellers of precious goods like gold and jewellery, generally have extensive documentation for their employees. It is interesting to know that the accused thought she could get away with the theft even though a CCTV was installed.

CCTV is no longer a novel concept, as even a tobacco seller has CCTV footage nowadays. Also, it is unclear as to how the woman took the jewellery out of the shop and whether she had a plan to sell it off.  The ongoing investigation will also possibly reveal whether the woman had someone else within the shop helping her.

Theft by shop personnel is common enough, and it is not just gold that’s stolen. A few weeks ago, we posted about a storekeeper conniving with a delivery agent to steal oil from a grocery outlet. The theft continued until they stole almost INR 2 Lakh worth of goods.
