In the latest Mumbai crime, The MIDC cops have busted an illegal dance bar, Sadguru Bar on SV Road in Andheri West. According to the FIR, the cops got a tip that the bar was carrying out illegal dance activities, and the raid occured sometime after 8 PM.
The report states that when the cops came calling, the bar had all the paraphernalia and set up of a dance bar.
Also, several women were found gyrating to Bollywood chartbusters, and when questioned, they confessed that they were directed to dance and perform to the music.
The cops have now booked more than seven people, rescued more than four women who were found in the bar premises, and has taken into custody several articles found on the scene.
The various articles include cash and the music system that was used in the performance. The authorities have also booked the waiters who were apparently egging on the dancers on the makeshift stage in the Mumbai crime.
Its good to see that the cops have swung into action. Also, it is shocking that the bar was carrying out these activities just post 9 PM, which is a time when anyone patron could just walk into the bar for dinner and a few drinks.

The concept of dance bars has been a hot topic among Mumbaikar since a long while. It became all the more interesting when the Government first banned dance bars in 2005. Since then, there have been some instances of bars returning to music as ‘Live Orchestra’.
Dance bars were a rickrolling business until they weren’t. Every Bollywood movie that spoke about the underworld had a bar scene, or a dance bar scene.
According to this HT report, there have been some talk about bringing back dance bars to life, but the Government is not keen on doing so. With this raid, the question about the existence of these dance bars once again raises its head.
