CCTV Footage Nails 66-Year-Old In POCSO Case

A Special Court here relied on the CCTV footage of the shop of the accused to nail him in a sexual harassment case in a Mumbai crime, wherein he harassed a seventeen-year-old girl who worked in his shop. According to this report, the victim lived with her maternal uncle after her HSC examinations as she wanted to attend computer classes. She started working at the accused’s shop, and her work timings were from early in the morning to evening. The incident occurred in 2018.

According to the complaint, the victim would pick the keys from the accused shop and open the shop. The court relied on the CCTV footage, which showed the victim walking in and the accused, a 66-year-old,  following her within minutes and then trying to grope and kiss her.

Giving the judgement, the presiding judge noted that cases of child sexual abuse reflect the inhumane mindset of the accused. It was mentioned that children are easy prey due to their tender age, physical vulnerabilities, and lack of life and societal experience. It was further noted that the incident had an adverse impact on the victim, her family members, and society.
