The authorities have successfuly foiled another Mumbai crime. In a tightly coordinated operation on Thursday evening, Mumbai Police apprehended a man in possession of an illegal country-made pistol and live ammunition from a busy footpath in Bandra West. The arrest has raised concerns over the easy availability of illicit weapons and the growing need for intelligence-led policing.

How the Mumbai Crime was Foiled

The incident took place on June 12, 2025, around 6:15 PM, near a bar and restaurant in the Guru Nanak Road area, opposite a residential building. Acting on a confidential tip, officers from the Bandra Police Station launched a covert surveillance operation, deploying multiple patrol vehicles and plainclothes officers to the scene.

The tip had warned authorities that a suspect would be arriving at the spot carrying a firearm without a license. A team of officers, along with two civilian witnesses (panchas), was dispatched. They reached the area in official and private vehicles and formed a perimeter. Shortly afterwards, an individual matching the description emerged near the footpath.
