Man Kills Wife Over Step Son’s Surname, Held

In an astonishing Mumbai crime, a man and woman who constantly fought over the man’s stepson’s surname, finally became accused and victim in a murder case. According to this report, the two were married for 22 years, and the woman had a son from a previous marriage, according to this Hindustan Times report.

The two used to constantly fight about the stepson’s surname, which he shared with the mother’s ex-husband. The accused wanted her to change the child’s surname to his, and she refused. In a fresh argument, the man strangled the woman. He then decapitated her and tried to hide the body and head in different locations.

The investigation first began when authorities found the skull of the woman in a suitcase along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway. He tried to dispose of the body near the railway tracks in Virar East. The man has now been arrested. The crime occurred in January 2025.
