Man Duped In College Admission Scam, Loses ₹70K

College admission scams, thought to be gone with the wind, are still around, and very much part of the Mumbai crime scene – so it seems.

A Jogeshwari man and son were duped by another, who promised that the child will be admitted in a prestigious Mumbai college, but that was not to happen.

The man conned the father of ₹70,000, under the pretext of securing the admission. Interestingly, the man hasn’t returned the original documents of the student as well.

This Jogeshari crime began when the victim came in contact with the accused, who claimed that he could get his son admitted in a good college.

However, after taking the money the accused said that he couldn’t get the child admission in the particular college, but could get him admitted in some other college.

However, a few days later, the accused said that he couldn’t get the admission done. The victim has now filed a complaint about the money that he spent, and that the original documetns are with the accused as well.

While the crime seems pretty straightforward, what boggles the mind is how does the accused plan to save himself.

The accused had met the man through a common friend, and also met the victim to take the money. With all these aspects, it becomes easy for the authorities to apprehend the individual and put an end to this scam.

Parents looking to get their children admitted in a particular school or college are pretty vulnerable, and it truly disappointing that a scamster took advantage of such an individual.
