In a dramatic late-night Mumbai crime that reads like a scene from a crime thriller, three men stormed into a small shop in Malad West and launched a brutal knife attack on a 25-year-old businessman over an alleged past romantic relationship.
How the Mumbai Crime Unravelled
The shocking incident occurred around 9:30 PM on June 10, 2025, inside a stationery and religious items store at Evershine Nagar, Malad West. The victim, a shop owner, was sitting with a friend when three men—one of whom had recently married the woman the victim had once been in a relationship with—entered the premises with vengeance in their eyes and a blade in hand.
According to the FIR registered at the Bangur Nagar Police Station, the trio barged into the shop and accused the victim of continuing a romantic relationship with the woman, despite her recent marriage. One of the assailants allegedly grabbed the victim by the collar, punched him, and hurled abuses while yelling threats.
As tensions escalated, one of the attackers pulled out a sharp metal blade and lunged at the victim. In the scuffle that followed, the victim raised his right arm to defend himself and sustained deep cuts. Not stopping there, another attacker drove the blade into the victim’s lower back, while a third attempted to stab him from behind but missed. The victim somehow managed to break free and escape into a nearby tower building to hide.
Even after the attack, the accused stood outside the building, shouting obscenities and daring the victim to come out, brandishing the weapon in public. Onlookers, terrified by the violent scene, did not intervene.
The injured man was later rescued by nearby shopkeepers and rushed to a hospital in Kandivali, where doctors immediately admitted him to the ICU. Police were informed, and a formal statement was recorded.

The FIR states that the accused acted out of longstanding resentment over the victim’s prior romantic relationship with the woman who had since married one of them. Despite no recent contact between the former couple, the attackers allegedly believed the victim had continued to interfere in the woman’s life.
The case of the Mumbai crime has been registered under multiple serious sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023:
- Section 109 – Criminal intimidation
- Section 352 – Assault or use of criminal force otherwise than on grave provocation
- Section 351(3) – Causing hurt with dangerous weapons
- Section 3(5) – Attempt to commit culpable homicide
All three accused of the Mumbai crime are currently at large, and police are actively searching for them. Authorities have appealed to the public for any information that could lead to their arrest.
This chilling case underscores the volatile intersection of personal relationships and violence, and how unresolved emotions, when combined with weapons, can turn a simple shopfront into a crime scene.
